TRANSLATION CREDENTIALS:

MA in Literary Translation (German/Spanish to English) from the University of Exeter (UK). Awarded Distinction.

Coursework included translating extracts of texts by both classic and contemporary authors such as Theodor Fontane, Theodor Storm, Guenther Grass, Birgit Vanderbeke, Adalbert Stifter, Miguel de Cervantes, Miguel Mihura and Carlos Fuentes.

TRANSLATION EXPERIENCE:

Experience as a freelance translator for a number of agenices and private clients since 2007. Feedback has been most encouraging and clients are willing to provide references.

On-going work for various magazines, translating a wide range of health, nutrition, spiritual, esoteric and social articles.

Education:
In January 2007 I completed a two-month translation internship with a Spanish language school in Germany, translating largely educational material from both languages into English.

EDUCATION:

1998 - 2002: BA (Hons) in German and Spanish from the University of Kent at Canterbury. High 2:1 grade. Year abroad in Cordoba, Spain and Erlangen, Germany.


OTHER PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

2003-2006: Various administrative roles, including full-time role as a PA at the Chartered Institute of Linguists. This allowed a valuable insight into the world of translation. Throughout this time I also taught Spanish to children on a part-time basis.

2002 - 2003: EFL teacher in Catalonia, Spain.

OTHER INTERESTS:
- Reading classic and contemporary English literature and foreign novels
- Complementary therapies, nutrition and holistic health
- Yoga
- Greek Mythology and European folklore
- Volunteering: previous work has included being a 'befriender' for Age UK (a charity for elderly people), assisting at a local branch of Cats Protection UK, gardening and horticulture for local heritage site.
