A lawyer and graduate of UC Berkeley and the University of Chicago, I have more than ten years' experience as a translator working in both Germany and the United States. Born in Germany and raised mostly in the United States and Britain, I offer not only impeccable language skills but an inside knowledge of the cultural contexts of both languages -- historical and literary references, wordplay, archaisms, etc. My translation experience has spanned everything from deadline-driven 30-second news blurbs, in which concision was of the essence, to scholarly articles in fields as diverse as philosophy, linguistics, architectural theory, and economics. In addition to providing expert legal translations, I am also eminently suited for assignments in the fields of politics, business & economics, history, art, architecture, literature, philosophy, and automotive terminology, among others.
Pricing / Other services
Pricing depends on the type of translation desired -- a philosophy dissertation will require considerably more thought and time per page than would a product manual or advertising copy. My rates begin at eight U.S. cents ($.08) per word.
