1998 to 1999. I Worked as Urdu Language Teacher, in SAFARA Urdu School, Rochdale (U.K.) Undertaking translation for school was also part of my job. I accomplished the translation tasks in addition to my official duties in the school:

Translation of bilingual/multi-cultural activities for the parents and broader community, informing the parents advisory groups by providing letters in their
home languages, translating the ongoing records of identified students for their parent’ attention(I translated nearly 10,000 words).

1997 – 1998. Employed as Urdu Language Teacher in Chashtia Islamic/Urdu Centre, Rochdale (U.K.). It was also part of my official duties to provide translation and interpretation facilities to the parents, teachers and bilingual children whenever necessary.

Some Examples of Translation Work.
Receiving, compiling and translating information regarding children’s activities, doing individual assessment of the children to review their competencies. Translating the assessment reports in Urdu language for the parents, translation of modified instructions to the needs of each student, informing the Asian parents about multicultural activities through letters written in Urdu language(provided estimately 5,000 words translation from English to Urdu).

1983-1984. I was appointed as Assistant to Mechanical Engineer, Army Textile Mills, Jhelum (Pakistan). It is worth mentioning to note that official language of Pakistan is English so all office correspondence is carried out in English language. During my job I gained ample experience regarding translation work because it was also part of my job to provide translation of different technical and non-technical documents to make the access easy.

Translation of monthly production reports, book of health & safety procedures, manuals of machines, fault-finding reports, booklet of disciplinary procedure, translation of the minutes of monthly meetings, translation of analysis reports of annual production development planning, booklet about customer care(approximately 30,000 words were translated from English to Urdu).

1984-1985. I Worked with the department of provincial buildings, Government of the Punjab, Jhelum (Pakistan) as Admin Assistant/Typist. Different translation tasks were assigned to me in addition to my other official duties. During my official duties the following major translation work was given to me.

Translation of Policy of annual development projects, handbook for contractors responsibilities, booklet regarding terms & condition of the completion of projects, inspection reports of senior officers, inspection/survey reports of the engineers, annual audit reports, project inspection reports on monthly basis. Maintenance reports of constructional machinery and other equipments for different constructional projects (about 80,000 words were translated from English to Urdu).

1985-1986. I performed my duties in the department of Punjab Highways, Government of the Punjab, Rawalpindi City (Pakistan) as English/Urdu Typist. I also did quite a lot translation of different official documents in addition to my other governmental duties.

Translation of progress reports of on-going projects, translation of annual audit reports, translating field workers reports of the projects, translation of different developmental projects of UNICEF, translation of staff health & safety regulations.
(approximately 90,000 words were translated from English to Urdu).

1986-1995. I worked in the Local Government & Rural Development Department, Government of the Punjab, Chakwal (Pakistan) as Administration Officer. I had been assigned different translation tasks in addition to my other official duties. I gained very extensive experience by providing translation of various documents.

Translation of general statement of safety policy, booklet of grievance procedure for office staff and field workers, disciplinary procedure for office/field staff, booklet of procedure regarding appeals, information booklet regarding dealing with the unsatisfactory work and performance of office/field staff, booklet about dealing with offensive behaviour, employee guide to sickness or absence reporting procedure
(during my nine years job more or less I provided 400,000 words translation from English to Urdu).
