Japanese > English: Freelance Academic Translator
Job Description
We are looking for post docs/professionals with advanced degrees in various fields to translate academic manuscripts written by foreign researchers. This is a freelance position. To qualify as a freelance translator for Cactus, you must have technical expertise in your field. Experience working in a foreign-language setting will be preferred. Essentially, your work will involve translating a technical research paper from Japanese to native level English. The aim is to help researchers get published in English language journals and thus effectively communicate their work to a wider scientific community.
We currently have openings for Japanese-English freelance academic translators.
Job Requirements
• Fluency in Japanese (essential)
• Native-level fluency in English (essential)
• An understanding and knowledge of technical terminology as expressed in the native language as well as in English is highly preferred
• MD, PhD, or Masters degree in any of the following fields: medicine, the life sciences, engineering, and the physical sciences
• Minimum 7 years translation experience
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word
• Strong time management skills (you will be required to work on deadlines)
• Ability to work independently
