Technical Translator FULLTIME IN HOUSE Shanghai (China)

CSOFT’s Technical Communications Department is looking for talented translators to work on projects for major Chinese technology companies.

The ideal candidate must be a native English speaker with advanced or higher Chinese and experience in English-Chinese translation. They must be comfortable with explaining complex scientific and technical concepts in simple language, able to transcreate as well as translate literally, and ready to take on deadline-driven projects. This position will require simultaneous work on different types of documentation for different products, so organization and versatility are a must.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Translating content for:
o Product and feature descriptions
o Installation and configuration guides
o White papers
o Marketing materials and press releases
o Technical Specifications
• Market and product research
• Frequent communication with a diverse map of stakeholders (in both Chinese and English)
• Information architecture, focusing on intuitive structure for a variety of different formats
• Support proposal development and other internal and client-facing documentation

Qualifications and Skills:
• Advanced or higher reading and writing skills in the target language
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communication, Computer Science, or relevant experience
• Native English speaker, with a strong grasp of grammar and controlled language
• A strong translation portfolio (please include 1–2 translation samples with your application)
• Able to work independently and under pressure
• Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to strictly abide by style guides and translate for a specific audience
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office
Preferred Skills:
• 1–2 years of translation experience (in-house or agency are both okay)
• Familiarity with dedicated translation software, especially SDL Trados
• Strong understanding of IT, telecom, and/or consumer technology industries

This position may require occasional travel within mainland China.
