English > German: A personal narrative non-fiction book, 103,500 words

Hello,
My book is a personal narrative non-fiction (Adult Story) about my 7 year battle with Lyme Disease and final recovery to 100% good health over an 82 day period.

It is 290 pages, and 103,500 words.

Expected start date, Mid November 2016, desired completion date, April 2017.

This book is written in common lively American English expression with the use of some American colloquial terms. The text is non technical but there are passages of serious social/political commentary and subtle sarcasm. I expect the translator to be native German, with a very good grasp of American conversational expression. I further expect that the translator has a resume of at least one significant book, translated from an American English and has a very good command of German Grammar. The goal is to capture the emotional feeling of my story and transmit that feeling to the German reader.

Text sample:
Every proper three-act novel or movie has its catalyst, its spark, that iconic action scene or dramatic dialogue that gets the whole show on the road at the beginning of the first act. It’s called “The inciting incident”. Now Jim Lindl had his inciting incident. He was presented with his personal enemy to fight. The question was how? That fateful day in San Luis Obispo in Doctor Halverstadt’s office was my eureka moment. That appointment which required 31 hard hours of international travel was a pivotal moment for the rest of my life. That appointment was the inciting incident that forever changed the direction in my life because I now had a real live enemy to fight. I knew I’d figure it out somehow and dig myself out of this deep depressing dark hole within which I was trapped.
