pressure compensating tank/vessel

My comment:

There are very many Google hits if you enter: Druckausdehnungsgefäß+pressure+compensating+tank OR vessel

It may just be an "expansion chamber" as in a previous answer (there are a number of Google hits to support this) but note that at:

http://www.dictionary-directory.info/translator/en/water+tank.html

expansion tank; expansion vessel > Ausdehnungsgefäß

and

pressure compensating tank > Druckausdehnungsgefäß

My comment:

The "Druck-" part doesn't mean that the Ausdehnungsgefäß itself is under pressure, i.e. pressurized. On the contrary, its purpose is to relieve pressure on the rest of the system.
Druckausdehnungsgefaess and Ausdehnungsgefaess are synonymous.
