Keywords:

die sich von den bisherigen ständischen Zusammenschlüssen und von den Vereinen des 19. Jahrhunderts unterschieden. Historischer Kontext, deshalb sollte "staendisch" im Zusammenhang mit "estate" uebersetzt werden, hiervon gibt es aber kein Adjektiv, oder?

My comment:

Your text is historical and GUILD is in German ZUNFT - which is the historical expression for Professional Organisations (as used today) - I don't think Ständisch should become Estate ... ???? That's a BERUFS-STAND the way I read it.
